Any ideas on if the Raptor will stage from JFK?
It was at ISP last time. They wanted to use Gabreski, but had issues with the condition of taxiways...
As I understand it, Fifi will be at the terminal this year....as always, this is subject to change
Well at least the show is getting better with the A-10 & the F-22.
I still wish that somehow they could get a fly by or two of the still flying Grumman birds or an E-2 demo. When you think of the contributions LI has made to Naval Aviation it would be great to see these planes over Jones Beach.
I can't wait to see the B-29 that should be awesome.
Nice to have some aviation news. I was out a Republic yesterday and it was a ghost town.
Some exciting airshow news coming soon!
New performers listed:
USAF Heritage Flight
B-17
B-25
Mike Goulian
John Klatt
David Windmiller
106th ANG
I'll post more info as it comes!
Speaking to someone today, it was mentioned "Fifi doesn't usually travel alone..." Could the CAF bring their B-24 along for the air show? They don't have a 2011 schedule for either aircraft posted yet on their web site. Stay tuned, this might get interesting.
Usually Fifi comes with the B-24. So yeah it's possible. It sure looks like I will have to come up for Sunday's show.
Oh if you guys haven't seen Michael Goulian fly, you will REALLY enjoy it! Here's a little preview...

Yes I agree with you, I also suspect it will be the Yankee Lady. As far as the B-25 I am unsure if it will be just the museum's B-25, an additional B-25, or either or. I'll have to wait on clarification on that.
I'm sure the NAVY will be sending either their F-18 Legacy Hornet or the Super Hornet Demo team,
but I've also heard rumors that the CF-18 Demo Team might be back again this year too
Hopefullly we'll hear MORE news about the show soon, so keep your fingers crossed !!
This is shapping up like it did last year. Cant wait. This year I can actually get some quality photos.
This is beginning to sound like it will be a heck of a yearto start attending this airshow. And I agree with you Nick, that I am glad to have some good equipment to get some good shots. I definitely have to get out some more to practice some techniques to ensure I get some great shots at Jones Beach.
Hey Chris,
I found that information in the press release.
Details seem sketchy so I wouldn't put my money on it but since it was in the press release I had to post it unless I had definite proof it wasn't going to happen.
Thanks for the link Ken.
Hopefully the Official Heritage flight info will be posted on the ACC webite soon also.
I would guess it will probably be the F-22, A-10, and Snort flying Chris' P-51 most likely,
especially IF Snort's in town that weekend with the Heavy Metal Jet Team also !!
BTW, since the Binghamton Air show in August has just been canceled, I'm REALLY hoping the
Heavy Metal Jet Team will be able to replace that show in the NE with Jones Beach in May now !!
Keep your fingers crossed everyone !!!
I see the official Jones Beach Air Show site has updated it's homepage
that now includes the announcement of the F-22 and A-10 Demos also,
BUT they still haven't updated the actual performers page yet for 2011.
I guess they're still working on a new logo design for their 2011 Air Show
also and wonder if it will feature the F-22 on it too perhaps ?? Ha !!

Who cares who else comes? Fifi is coming! Grandpa is going to be stoked!!!
Sweet, an HH-60!! Oh, I mean, sweet an F-22!!! Seeya's there.
F-22's will be based at KISP...sorry folks
F-18 Demo will attend.....let the speculation begin.....Navy? Canadians? muahahahah
I'm hoping for a Super Hornet Legacy flight with the AAM's F4U Corsair.
You and me both!

Yes, But now they have one that looks like the Cosair with the same paint job!
You sure? According to this no Super Hornets are scheduled to receive heritage colors. In fact, except for that fugly digital scheme that one SH got, no two-seat Hornets are listed as getting special colors (save one Growler) I haven't seen any photos to show otherwise. VFA-122, which performs the demo, is getting a three-toned Hornet, but it is a single-seat F/A-18C.
I never said super hornet... I am looking for the 100th ann Corsair blue hornet! That would be BETTER than some plain super hornet!
Back in 2008 they were doing about 2 flybys a day over FRG from Thursday (or maybe Wednesday) - Sunday. Hopefully they'll do it again but it depends on fuel and other factors.
It would be great to see the Super Hornet Demo at Jones Beach this year,
BUT I'd also like to see them send this "Corsair Blue" Centennial Legacy Hornet
from VFA-106 to do a demo and a Naval Legacy flight with an F4U Corsair too !!
Now THAT would be a VERY COOL looking Legacy flight !!:wink:

Wohoo I can attempt to fix the blurr shots I obtained last year with my film camera. I am really looking foward to this year.
Has anyone checked out the official web page, and viewed this page "http://www.jonesbeachairshow.com/aircraft_performers.html" ? Is this new, or has it been this way for a while (in anticipation of them getting the T-Birds) and have not updated since?
At first I thought it was last years page, but last year we had the Blues .. I looked at the Snowbirds schedule, and they have nothing scheduled for the last half of May.
I know we have said that the T-Birds will be in Europe for Memorial Day, but their schedule has no shows for that weekend ..
