MRJ2 (which I've seen as Air Jamaica!) is over France right now. If it's going non-stop to New York, arrival in the 17:00 hour. If it makes a Shannon stop, add an hour or so.
The Pope's flight is showing a 16:46 arrival.
For housekeeping, I'll be putting any updates for today in this response.
1107L: Cuba Il-96 [CUB102/CU-T1250] over North Carolina; ETA at JFK about 1150. No info on the onward.
1129L: Egypt A342 [EGY1/SU-GGG] is right behind one of the Swissairs, ETA around 1420.
1139L: Global ZS-OAK about to depart 31L. Unknown if it's operating for a government, but slightly exotic nonetheless. [Looks like the repo went to Stewart]
1145L: Mauritania BBJ [MRT1/5T-CLC] just off the Azores.
1147L: Angola 2, a Falcon 7, on final 31R [this showed on FR as a F7X - was it really D2-ANT, the F900?]
1150: Cuba on final 31R
1212: TJK, RTFThread!
1218: Switch to the 13s upcoming.
1224: Vietnam 772 [HVN1/VN-A143] over Suffolk County, on the ground in 20 minutes

Looks like the TAROM A310 snuck in early this morning and re-positioned to SWF:

At this rate will there be anything left for the weekend?!
There's weird timing on this year's event. I have a feeling that there are going to be a decent number of leaders who come in for the Pope speech tomorrow (especially from Catholic-dominated countries), which means that today could be an unexpectedly good day. There's a summit this weekend before the actual debate, but the leader speeches look like they're starting on Monday instead of the traditional Tuesday.
[EDIT: according to a Nigerian news source, the following countries are speaking on Monday: USA, Nigeria, Brazil, Poland, China, Russian Federation, Republic of Korea, Iran, France, Qatar, Mozambique, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Portugal, Denmark, Ethiopia, Uganda, Chile, Cuba, South Africa, Morocco, Switzerland, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Belarus, Gabon, Paraguay, Kenya, Turkmenistan, Senegal, Mali, Ecuador, Bolivia, Kiribati and Australia.]
Ay info on what will be coming in the rest of the day? I start a new job Monday so today and tomorrow are it for me.
Today will be a good day it seems from a very brief scan of what's crossing the Atlantic and or over Canada and looks to be headed for our region...

For housekeeping, I'll be putting any updates for today in this response.
1107L: Cuba Il-96 [CUB102/CU-T1250] over North Carolina; ETA at JFK about 1150. No info on the onward. [Departing 1408 as CUB106; heading NE at 7K, hoping Stewart. Dropped off track, but was the same SWF routing as all the others]
[Looks like a 1700ish arrival, might get held up if there's a Pope hold] [Final 22L 1701]
1147L: Angola 2, a Falcon 7, on final 31R [VQ-BLP, thanks to Ben for the photo confirmation] [Repo SWF, dep 1345ish]
1150: Cuba on final 31R
1212: TJK, RTFThread!
1218: Switch to the 13s upcoming.
1224: Vietnam 772 [HVN1/VN-A143] over Suffolk County, on the ground in 20 minutes. [Final 13R, 1239] [1458: Departing 13L - Went to Westover/CEF]
1234: VP-CAL (thanks, Gordon) ETA around 1845. It's right behind the late Iberia. Turkmenistan similar, probably in the mid-1800 hour.
1250: A345 out of Doha [answers on a postcard, but let's assume A7-HHH] over Turkey, if it's headed here, ETA 2200ish. Also a 744 just out of Brunei [same deal, V8-ALI assumed]. Will have to make a stop, and it's really far away.
1314: Saudi 772 [SVA7239/HZ-AKF] inbound ETA 1405 [filed back out to Saudi]
1354: Saudi BBJ2 opf Lebanon [LEB1/HZ-HR5] inbound ETA 1530. [1443 update: Appears to be on a more EWR course than JFK] [1530: Arrived EWR 11]
1415: Egypt final 4R. This 13s/4R split has to be annoying. And Saudi is on final 13R.
1420: Guys, let's keep this thread tidy - edit one post to give updates. A zillion responses every 3 minutes makes this very tough to follow.
1629: AAL9420 [B772/N776AN] airborne with the Pope. ETA around 1700. [1703 - Final 13R, calling SHEPHERD 1 Heavy]
1631: Chile 763 [FACH1/985] over Ecuador, ETA 2200ish.
1635: Iran 343 [MRJ2/EP-AJA] has popped up east of Boston; ETA probably 1715-1730. [Final 22L 1722]
Evening wrapup - thanks to everyone who posted alerts and photos. UAE(Dubai) BBJ2 A6-HEH arrived 2105, departed 2310. Nigeria BBJ arrived 2210 (reposition Dover). Chile arrived 2230. Turkish 332 arrived 2245ish. Turkmenistan and Iran both departed in the early half of the 2100 hour. Turkmenistan to SWF, Iran believed to be Andrews. Mauritania is also out, think to Stewart. From another list, the Uganda from last night is at DOV. VP-CAL went to Newark.
2330: Amiri/QAF8 is the A310 (A7-AFE) that came out of the London area.
Looks like I missed the Mali BBJ (TZ-PRM). Repo to HPN.
Does all this activity during the week mean the weekend will be lack-luster? The ONLY day I can be out is Sunday - I'm pretty certain at this point that I'm not going to see anything worth writing home about...
I was planning, and still am, to be out Sat-Tues. It is looking like it may be light on the VIP traffic, but I'm hoping there will still be some planes trickling in.
It's a 13/4 split. I'm at HoBe as they're using 13r for landings.
Hoping to get lucky but Egypt 1 just checked in for 4r
Saudi 772 just touched down on 13l.
Mauritania http://www.flightradar24.com/MRT1/783c404
and
Iran http://www.flightradar24.com/MRJ2/782dc40
also inbound somewhere
It seems like everything is coming in before the weekend. How does the spotting look this weekend, or will most of the VIPs be here before then?
I think a lot are here for Friday (tomorrow) for the Pope. Inconsiderate bastards should know some of us are at work!
I'd say there are still plenty of UN visitors yet to come.
4L/22R opening postponed until Monday.
Turkish Government A330-200, TC-TUR is over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
I agree with Eric. I think there will still be arrivals this weekend and into next week. While this year has definitely become "UN Weeks", there are also several nations already here that we've not seen recently if ever. Between the Pope, the development summit, and the 70th anniversary, lots of leaders are coming this year.
Concur with the others that there is plenty left, but some visitor may arrive during the late evening hours. Have gotten much of a chance to process my pic, but here are some for now.

The South African BBJ ZS-RSA callsign LMG1 just landed in Las Palmas to refuel , should be airborne again within the next two hours, 7 hour flight to JFK.
The BBJ A6-DAS was the Swaziland kings ride, one of the poorest countries in the world and he charters an aircraft from the Middle East , not the first time. I suppose his old DC9 not good enough anymore.
BRS1 VC-1A 2101 arrival in approximately 30 minutes.
edit: BRS1 landed 03.10 am rwy 04R
Kazakhstan Government BEC1 just took off from Astana. If heading directly to NYC, arrival around 18.30 I think.
Wow, I'm always yealous about the stuff you get during UN Week(s) nice shots everyone thanks for sharing. BTW there is a A345 over germany right now heading west departed IST now callsign available. Only VIP A345 that came to my mind was the State of Kuwait. It maybe headed to NYC? I don't know but maybe it helps someone. Good luck o everyone out.
What's the list for today, my wildly more knowledgable friends?
Will try to make it out there either tomorrow or on Sunday! Does anybody have an idea on when the Gambia IL-62, Belarus Tu-154, Putin's entourage, the Qatar Amiri Flight stuff, and Air Force 1 are coming?
According to an e-mail I received, the DNC wanted me to give them money so I could see the President in New York on Sunday, so assume that day. [EDIT: White House confirms President to New York on Sunday Afternoon https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press...ng-unga-events ]
From this morning, Brunei 744 V8-ALI and A320 HZ-A2 were both in. I also saw an E190 on the trackers, but I don't know if it was one of the A6- machines or possibly the Brazil back again.
0956: Venezuela 319 showing on the ground at JFK now. Not sure when it came down from Stewart. [And now back to SWF]
[For brevity's sake, I'll give a couple of responses in this box, too. Gerard - that's standard for the President, too; the whole esplanade is blocked off. Bangkok-The Kuwaitis usually use standard KAC callsigns. I'd guess the A345 is the Qatar Amiri example. TriState - Belarussian press says their President is in New York from Saturday to Tuesday]
1039: C-17 [RCH434T] final 13L. [1202: Departing]
1054: The E190 from earlier is Conviasa YV3016. Sounds like it's departing now.
1116: South Africa BBJ ZS-RSA over Suffolk; ETA 15 minutes. [Departed 1408 - SWF] Brunei, Conviasa, HZ-A2 all departed and are inbound Stewart.
1350: Korea Air Force 001 [B744/10001] final 4R
1516: That A345 is in the descent over Providence. ETA 1545. [Indeed Amiri 1 - A7-HHH]
1520: Totally forgot to mention; a German AF A340 was in and out in the wee hours last night.
1522: Out of nowhere - Pakistan Air Force G450 [PFF2/J-756] on final for 13L.
1554: Russian Presidential Office says Putin is arriving Monday morning and going straight to the UN.
1654: A319 A6-CJE descending over the North Fork, ETA 1730.
I see that VPOTUS and FLOTUS will be attending the Global Citizen Fest concert in Central Park tomorrow evening.
Not a UN week movement, but another special movement that may be of interest. (Do they fly separately?)
There's a TFR in Wilmington, DE tomorrow night, so that may be VPOTUS heading back home after the show. There are so many around NYC lately that I don't know which ones are Papal vs UN vs First Family. Trying to see where to spot tomorrow and Sunday if I can get out there.
Greetings,
Here are a few new ones (for me) I pulled off over the last few days.
After so many years of doing the UNGA its hard to really get much in the form of something new. I can just sit and relax and come out when something new shows up. So far this yea the Cubana IL-96 and the AN-158 along with the Colombian 737-400 are my more prized catches so far.

I can't wait to come down Sunday.
Sorry for the poor quality. Its not as good as most other pics you guys usually see, but figured I'd add my pic of the pope's inbound flight to JFK here since I haven't yet seen it appear on the thread. Better a bad pic than no pic

The pope flew in on a American 777!?
Did the Congo 707 come in yet?
