All very good points Fred.
I guess we'll see how they are going to figure it all out as it gets closer to the show.

Actually it wasnt that bad even with four copters. The LZ was a large grassy field and the crowds were kept at a relatively safe distance when they both arrived and departed. I think
the problems in SI and Flushing Meadow was that they used baseball fields with lots of dry dirt. That is wonderful for rotorwash.
When the copters departed they returned for low and fast fly-bys. The Cobras and Sea Knight came in together then about almost a minute later the Osprey roared in over the field,
then after clearing the e LZ did a quick turn and climb and was gone. Quite impressive.
Hopefully they do it again.
Yeah, there were no problems at all last year at Eisenhower.
It was a great Demo and I hope they do it again in 2011 too !!

Rats! no F-22 on that. Oh well still got time. Hey do you think it would be possible to contact the heavy metal demo team about the show?
We wont find out about any official ACC schedules until March.
As far as the Heavy Metal Jet Team I'm pretty sure they are already aware that the T-birds aren't coming.
The ACC doesn't post their schedule until much later in the year - their schedule page says it should be approved February 1, but in the past they have only posted a month or two at at time. While we may hear some info and rumors from other sources, we may not see the official schedule for May until March or later.
USN Blue Angels & CAF Snowbirds will perform in the 2012 airshow.
2012? But I want them now!
Received this today;

As you would imagine I am very happy to hear this.... Sean is the man!
Looks like we're not going to get the F-22 Demo Team this time. They'll be at an airshow in Hawaii during Memorial Day weekend.
Ken,
Was just curious where you heard that info about the F-22 being in Hawaii for the Memorial Day weekend,
because I just checked the ACC website and it said the 2011 schedule wouldn't be posted until March ??
Got the information from ICAS' website.

AWESOME news ... BOTH the F-22 and A-10 Demo teams will be at Jones Beach this year !!
It was just posted on the official ACC website:
http://www.acc.af.mil/aerialevents/demoteamschedule.asp
Knowing this, I may have to make the drive down to Jones Beach this year to catch the show.
i hope the ACC didnt make a mistake, but if this is accurate, this show is now all about the F-22. Maybe we can get an extended demo? Think it will still be at ISP?
No mistake. Don't be suprised to get some metal from the Navy too..
Yes! Now I am excited as I have not seen the Raptor since '07. Add the Super Bug and it will shape up to be a great show as usual.
I'm hoping that with a jet team not occupying the main terminal ramp, that the Raptor will stage out of FRG. This will let them be parked right under the nose of airport ops all the time. I know the Navy and A-10 usualy park at Sheltair.
Pete
I'm very happy I was wrong about the F-22!
Also sorry for the delayed forum update.

Today's Newsday (online...) has a story about the air show, saying that for the first time since it began in 2004, neither the Thunderbirds nor Blue Angels will be performing, due to the T-Birds overseas trip. The piece ends with this...
I've been hearing rumors about Fifi, but this is the first I've seen it in print!Quote:
To help fill the empty spot, the East Farmingdale-based American Airpower Museum is putting together a flight of historic bombers, a B-29, B-17 and B-25. The B-29, nicknamed Fifi, is the only B-29 in flying condition in the world.
ETA - I've had this confirmed by a source...
This years night under the stars is looking good!!! Now I have to see if they will allow us to do it again!
Now all we need is a B-52 FLY-BY!!! Then we'll have all the Boeing heavies!!

No idea, I had not seen much of your night work and I have no idea what the competition will be like or how much of it there will be. I also have to make sure first we can even do it. If we can do it, it is like the Lotto....you have to be in it to win it!
Well derf 9/10 of my spotting is night shots inside JFK since i work the evening shift most of the time and with the sun setting early at this time of the year. I have stuff all around the forum posted. Take a look around one day and watch for new posts as I spot more.
Nick, it would probably be a lot easier for us to evaluate samples of your work if you point to where you have them posted (Flikr, etc) rather than relying on us to find your photos scattered around the forums.
I dont have them anywhere else aside from NYCA. Im a one place master. Give me some time and ill put a few up here for ya.
If we are able to do the event again this year there will be a formal release with instructions on how to enter. It would include you sending in 3 photos to be judged on quality. It is not how many megapixels but rather composition, proper exposure, and artistic quality. For your best chances I would start posts asking "how can I improve my night shots" and put examples.... Many examples. The resources on this forum are incredible and not to use it would be a crime. If your at JFK every night you stand an excellent shot of getting some outstanding captures. Enter your 3 best (if the event is allowed) and cross your fingers. This is how you stand the best chance of finding out if your that good, or improving so you are that good very quickly. I wish you luck but can not play favorites....
