About the B-1 flyby, I will always remember how it made the kids around us cry. :borat:
Set off all the car alarms in the parking lots!!Quote:

Not as loud as a Bone but more aerobatic. Mr. Matt Chapman has been officially added. :)
Does anybody know the schedule for KFRG that weekend in terms of practice, arrivals, etc... ?
Thanks,
Dave
No, not at this time.......we usually find out a day or two before they come, in the worst cases hours before they come, but all operations with the planes on air show week based on previous years happens on weds, thurs, friday (this year 20-23). But some little performers come on the saturday or sunday before the air show. We do know that a hurricane hunter c-130 will come may 5 to KFRG.Quote:

Also I spotted a Geico Skytyper today, (I dont know what number) But he was heading towards Jones Beach, I guess we will see them roaming the the sky soon...... If you are around KFRG see if you see any coming in or out!
The week of the show between here and Airshowbuzz.com you should have no trouble finding out information. There are some very informed people on here, thank goodness!
As far as Republic on the days of the airshow you just figure out the airport times based on the show schedule down atthe beach.
Well, for me, it might be a bit of a long travel from the Bronx, but I think im gonna chance it to go to the show. Im interested in coming to see this display, But im might use mass transit, this is going to be my first trip to JB. Can any LIRR fares to get there and where to get off at?
Thanks
You are going to have to leave VERY early.Quote:

YOU NEED TO GET THERE EARLY (last year) No fee if early
That's only for a season pass for your car. If you are driving in for the day, you pay the fee ($8, I think) at the toll booth on Wantagh Parkway and get a ticket for the parking lot.Quote:

For what it is worth if you have a car or access to one it would be much easier to drive Jones Beach. If you take mass transit from the Bronx it would involve either the subway or a bus down to Penn Station. Then the LIRR out to Freeport (Holiday schedule, usually every hour) then a MSBA Bus shuttle down to the beach. I would say 3 1/2 to 4 hour trip.
Even if you are as far north as Riverdale you could leave at 7:00AM and be at Jones Beach by 8:00AM-8:15AM driving in regular weekend traffic.
I dont think the wantaugh parkway charges any tolls (99.9% sure).B ut when I went to the airshow in 07' I got there at 6:30AM and I went up to the both and they guy said I have to get a ticket, so I had to turn around and buy one....you cant just go to the parking both and give the guy 8 bucks (well from 07 at least). That why I just get the season pass its good for the whole summer and makes airshow day ten times easier.Quote:

Last couple of years I paid directly at the parking lot. One thing is for sure I will leave much earlier this year than last. Got caught in a
nasty jam on the Wantagh last year. Watched the warbirds flyover as I drove towards JB.

Of course if they have the Friday dress rehearsal you can avoid all of that. :)

What lot? And yes you should leave early they are still doing construction and I can imagine those delays could get quite nasty.
Not that I would recommend it to others, but the last two years, I rolled up to the toll booth at around 9am (I paid there, not at the parking lot), had about 3 cars in line ahead of me waiting to pay, and parked in the lot across from the water tower (not the beach side) - the lot was less than 1/2 full when I got there. I found a spot on the boardwalk at show center and shot from there.
Yeah, also if worse comes to worse people could park in the theater parking lot. And I forgot about the toll booth.Quote:

If you are so worried about it...you should NOT go sat or sun but you should go to the practice on Friday where the beach is completely empty.
>What lot?<
The Jones Beach Theater lot. Parked in the back near the FD/PD Staging Area.
Yeah that was pure luck.Quote:

sorry, your a little off. Practice is never on Thurs but Friday and is the only Practice. It has been that way for the last 3 years. I know because I was always on the field on Thurs and Fri. I went with a co-worker to the beach on Friday and had a blast.Quote:
