I would like to go as well.
Thanks
I'll be there! TIA
I'll definitely be there.
#7 on the list here!
I'll call them tomorrow, I guess the plan would be to spend Saturday on base and Sunday at the show? Or maybe Sat Am at Gabreski and Pm at FRG catching traffic there as well? LMK.
I would be interested
Bill
Count me in!
Bill McShane of Sheltair also confirmed the FA22's will not be at FRG.Quote:

Not to mention an ANG hangar they can hide it in when not flying :wink:Quote:

I think it will be too long of a drive for me from northern Westchester. Just a big hassle. I will be attending the airshow though. What day will the visit be, if any, because then I will know if I can go.
Anyone know if the Blue Angels or other aircraft will be flying photo-ops around Manhattan next week? BA's did it 2 years ago. Thanks
Hope to see everyone there. And remember, leave your seeing eye ferrets at home!

NO PETS. Of course, this excludes animals that aid the handicapped. Unless that animal happens to be a ferret, and if you are using a ferret to lead you around everywhere, you will probably have trouble getting to the show in the first place.
Why the hell would a blind man with a ferrett go to an airshow?.........I love it! :borat:
He likes the sound... :borat:
>Plus the crowds blow to...if you want to see the best part of the show go to the practice session on Thursday and Friday. The beach is empty and the practice session is generally longer then what you see on the weekend. I think hanging out on New Highway at FRG is far more enjoyable then the show itself. Bring a cooler a chair and a ladder and your all set. <
No you REALLY have to go to the beach to enjoy the show. The great thing about 2 days is you do one at the beach and one at FRG. And the crowd isnt so bad if you stay to the east or west of the Jones Beach Tower. More room and less congested. There I will pull up my chair and chill out. Usually have my ipod set up for
some good rockin tunes but listened at a level where they dont drown out the sounds of the engines. In fact you guys should check out "If I Could Fly" by Joe Satriani from the "Is There Love In Space" CD. A few other great airshow Satch tunes are "Surfing With the Alien" and "Speed of Light".
Back in 2005 I was finishing up two months of disability due to surgery and didnt even realize they did "practice" shows. But hearing some chatter on my scanner I drove down to Jones Beach and was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately I havent been able to do it again. The one other time I was off that Friday rain cancelled the
practice show.
Word on the street has it that the Raptor will be dodging SWA 737s next weekend, rather than spending time out east. No confirmation of this, but it sounds likely to be the case.
Ill be at FRG on Sunday. Hope to see you guys there.
The F22s will be using ISP starting Thursday night.
My girlfriend actually brought this up...without me mentioning it first...so we may be there :D
Two of my buddies will be working the static display, I may be over there too on Saturday / Sunday.. But I'll be in civvy's myself. 8)
What exactly does the 106th have in store for us this year, in terms of statics and demos?Quote:

#7 should already be here. #1-#6 should be coming in between 9 and 9:30 tomorrow (Thursday) morning. Lets hope the weather holds out!
Just a couple more days, I can't wait!
And so it starts...Blue Angel 7 arrived at FRG around 5pm. After landing on Rwy 14, they taxied down the end and tested the portable arrester cable, then parked over at the terminal.

After he was parked, a shower passed through. When the sun came back out, it make for some great shots, beautiful light with the dark storm clouds in the background.

The rest of the team arrives Thursday morning around 9:15am. Word around the air patch says the Raptors will make a fly over about 9am before heading over to ISP. See you there!
Looks like the pilot has a goatee!
The shots of the parked #7 jet is awesome with the dark skies.
I'll probably run into some of you guys on Friday or Saturday.
I got a buch too Moose....but I am to busy Post Proccessing other shots of my flight right now!
Plus, yours are better anyway... Those were TOPPS... I LOVE the plane blurred in the second but NOT in the third! WONDERFULY DONE! Those sparks came out great. :borat:
haha nice to see chad busting his ass!!.. working with the angels today is absoluely awesome!.. some of the nicest/funniest people i have delt with in the aviation industry
Spent the day at FRG & the beach. Horrible conditions this morning, and with the rain and winds, they fooled us - we were expecting the Blues to arrive on Rwy 14, instead they came in the opposite direction. Between the showers we did manage to get some shooting in. Here are some from FRG.

Went down to the departure end of Rwy 14 on New Highway. BA 7 made an impressive departure on a media flight! I think he cleared the fence by about 20 feet, and put a new part in Fred's hair!

Overcast and rain made for some poor shooting, but they certainly were close overhead.

The conditions did make for nice contrails, though.

I went down to the beach and caught their practice show. I'll post some shots from there later...
Check this thread for my shots from ISP today when the Raptors arrived.
Seems FRG had the better weather for the Blues.

Thanks for the shots guys. I'll stop by FRG on Saturday and JB on Sunday. Getting back in NY tomorrow night.
I'll be at the beach for practice almost all day tomorrow, if anyone is going to be around let me know.
I'll be making a quick swing by Republic tomorrow to catch the departure to Maryland (9:00am), then I will head straight to the beach.
I absolutely LOVED the weather at FRG today...the sporadic rain showers provided for some crazy lighting, and great cloud backdrops. Compared to last year, I am so much happier with the way my pictures have been coming out. I think I'm starting to learn a thing or two about this photography thing.
Here's the tip of the iceberg:

And the takeoff that blew everybody's hats off...literally. (Taken at 70mm...if only I had panned upward more!!! :x )

Is any day going to be necessarily better than the other? I know the weather will be great for both, but I was just wondering if any of the two days had any advantages like less traffic or people.
Also, I'm wondering if my 70-200mm will be sufficient enough for beach shots. I do have that 1.6x magnification from the camera, though.
