Sorry no pics to add but lots of great ones from you folks so far, looking fwd to more. I ended up arriving much later than planned around 1400, but as always I had a great time. This was actually around my 7th or 8th Kids Day, when we started US brought a Shuttle 727 followed by a few years of the 734, and this was our 4th year displaying the A-319. It was great seeing lots of old friends and fellow photoags, and meeting Vidiot, Winglets 747, and G-BOAD.
Starting on Thursday my very cool boss Lou and I started discussing requests from the Port Authority about bringing over one of "those cool Special Scheme planes we see all the time" so after some reconsidertion Lou and I started sending e-mails and making phone calls. The end result was N744P and literally 30 mins after we got approval for the aircraft swap mid-day Friday her APU died in BOS and that really complicated things. But thanks to some great folks in our MTC department and the ramp they agreed to "go the extra mile" as bringing over an aircraft without an APU caused both groups extra work and effort, Thanks Everybody. And BTW late Friday night after tearing down and evaluating the APU the proper parts where ordered. she was closed back up, then after Kids Day with the new parts in LGA the APU repairs where complete and she had a full day of Shuttle flying Sunday with a fully functioning APU. I kept 744's appearance quiet hoping she would not get swapped out at the last minute, and also thought it would be a nice surprise ! And in case your curious plan B would have been N749US.
Something very cool a lot of you may have missed was the departure of the Sky-Topper Texans. I had just exited the back of the C-130 when two took off from 31 in close formation and banked left and passed directly over our location low and loud. About 45 seconds later the other two repeated the cool flyover. About 5 mins later all 4 in tight formation flew down closed Runway 4 at about 50 feet altitude with a little smoke show. Very, Very Cool.
Thanks for reading and already looking forward to next year.
Cheers

It sounds like it was a great time...I think next year, I'll have to bring the family up for this event. My son will love it - well...so will I... he'll
love the cockpit access as well - much like a very generous CO Express captain gave us on our return from Amarillo recently:

It sounds, and looks from the pictures (lucky folks for seeing the Panthers jet - nice work there Ron), like it was a great time! Anyone got pictures from the BBQ???
Also - nice catch of the new Spirit Ron!
A couple folks were taking BBQ pics. I hope they post them in the thread.
When I was at the met game, I saw a blue US Airways plane, thought it was Piedmont, so I didn't bother to really look, but then I saw the tail and indeed it was panthers. Nice surprise to see it fly 1000 feet over me head.
Hey Phil, how did the BBQ turn out?
Here ya go stuart schechter,
It is a little underexposed, left LGA around like 2:30 (I think):

The Piedmont retro USAir scheme:

The engine of the Piedmont plane (they opened it up, but it was hard to take pictures of the inside because of the light. And they put rope across to prevent anyone from being Phil's avatar):

The skywriters. It's hard to tell from this pic how low they are, unfortunately:

Hey Iberia A340, was that you who stayed near the A 319 with glasses and nyca shirt on and was hanging out with the blone headed guy ?
Was the Navy Beech 200 there for Kid's Day? If so does anyone know the serial, I saw it leave yesterday!
Take the E, F, R or 7 Train to 74th St. Take the Q33 Bus to LGA Airport. To get to the Marine Air Terminal take a A Shuttle Bus.
Yes there was, a TC-12B out of NAS Corpus Christi...BuNo 161497Quote:

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like! :borat:
It was a great event. I brought a former pupil who is fatherless and had never been inside a plane before. He was awestruck. I never knew such an event existed especially since 9-11. I pictured it as being mobbed with long lines to board aircraft; I was wrong. I understand that it is organized and paid for by the LGA Kiwanis Club. This is a generous thing to do. Although JFK doesn't have a Kiwanis, I'm surprised that they don't sponsor similar events.
That **** is hot, Matt!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's the NYCA article: http://nycaviation.com/topstories#kidsday07
Very nicely done Phil !

Gordon was in the "aviation photography is not a crime shirt" and i think i was the blonde headed guy :DQuote:

Mat, those shots of the radio stacks are great!
Yea, good job on the close ups.
G-BOAD, I was the guy with the green camo hat, and was with an Indian friend of mine who was wearing a "Halloween" shirt.
Mat, on the 12 picture, taken from the AA MD80 looking towards the Piedmont plane i can be seen with a child if you look above the wing of the AA MD-80 you was in. Im wearing a navy blue shirt with a white jacket around my me with wearing a black bag on me.
Who was the guy on my bus wearing an "America West" tee who kept talking about "NYC Aviation"? I didn't get a chance to speak to him.
That guy in the America West tee shirt on the bus was me!!
