Well, there will be people all around the planes, so you'll have to be creative.
But didn't he say he wants "a.net quality" shots? :)Quote:

777heavy, are you talking in general or are you talking about on September 24th?
For a fact, I know that runway 13-31 will be closed on September 24th so runway 4-22 will be the only one in use.
How can they possibly use 4-22 with so many people so close to the runway? That's pretty dangerous. However, if 4-22 is in use while we're at Kids Day....all I can say is that people had better bring a lot of memory cards for their cameras! I may have to be escorted out by security after the event is over. :)
Michael, are you gonna be there?
I really believe the Port will change, I hope I am wrong but I predict 4-22 will be closed on the 24th. They may have more work to do on 13-31 but there is enough work that they can find something to do on 4-22 !

Hey great news guys, I AM COMING!!!
I cant wait to meet you all!
I am going to bring my piece of crap 35 mm SLR with 70 mm zoom. (who needs a zoom anyway at kids day ;-)).
Hey Ron. I think they're going to use 4-22 and close 13-31.
Futterman sent me this link a while back: http://www.laguardiaairport.com/aviatio ... 05_aoa.pdf
The link shows the closures of each runway; the top bar shows 4-22 runway closures and the bottom bar shows 13-31 runway closures.
It looks like 13-31 should be closed Sept. 24; let's hope!
And Josh, I am gonna show up. Hope to see you there, as well as Phil and Ron.
fly.mcs,
Like Ron said, they will probably change that because of the proximity of the show to the runway.
I couldn't possibly imagine them sticking to that schedule. I don't think they took Kids Day into effect when making that schedule. I would not take it as bible.
Yeah, maybe you guys are right.
Also, I just looked at a diagram of LGA on AirNav, and I had no idea the runway was that close to it!
I thought the Marine Air Terminal was closer to 13 than 4.
Do you think the weather will be good that day?
Has anyone goten a net shots from that event?
how far is the planespotting park from there?
Is the park in a bad neighbor hood
Hey 777heavy.
I'm not sure about the first two questions, but i have answers to the last two.
The planespotting park, aka Planeview Park, is walking distance from the Marine Air Terminal.
All you need to do is walk over the overpass and make a left. However, I'm not sure if LGA will be landing runway 4 that day, so planes might not go by that area.
The answer to your last question...nope. The neighborhood isn't a bad one.
Well keep your fingers crossed the long range forcast by NOAA looks fantastic, sunny, clear and 75! So bring your NYCAviation shirts, cameras, and prepare for a great time!!
There are some signs up for Kids Day in employee area's at work, they say the hours are 12-4, not 11-4 as we originally thought.
And while this could still change, here at US our plans are to have a 319 on Public Display !
I look forward to see many of you there !

ron, any chance it'll be a star alliance bird?
Anyone ever try to upload any of there shots to anet?
YES!!! Finally i know i will 100% be there!!! Anybody wanna carpool? Like Phil said, and i agree with him. We should do something after
I still think a BBQ is the best idea for after Kids Day. If we're gonna do something like that, we need to get an idea of how many people would show up so we can all chip in for the right amount of food, etc. We'd also need to figure out WHERE we'd have this little shindig.

anyone know the confirmed time?

Well its between 11 and 12 so I'd plan it for 11, worst comes to worst you have to wait outside for a bit.

just a few questions..... 1. Will we get bothered by police for taking pics?
2. Is the 18-55mm good enough or are we not that close to the planes?

well, I didnt clarify with my wife yet, but if y'all need a deck and a grill, we got it. This Saturday, AFAIK, we're free and just chilling.
You'll have to excuse the appearance of hte living room, as its being updated, but our backyard is the way to go.
just need numbers if this is happening.
we are by KFRG.

Mario, that would be cool if we had the BBQ in your backyard. I think we need to start a new thread entitled "Post LGA Kids Day BBQ - NYCAviation End-of-Summer Get-Together" and get people to indicate whether they are coming. One suggestion is to only give directions out to people who indicate that they are coming, as opposed to posting directions here, so that we can get a more accurate head-count for the purposes of food, etc.
Speaking of food, my guess is that we should ask everyone who shows up to chip in a little for food ($5? $10?) so that no one or two people are stuck footing the bill.
Let's see if Phil has any other plans in the works before committing to this, but otherwise this could be really fun!

Re the directions they should be e-mailed or pm'd only. Publishing someones home address and how to get there on a public Internet site even one as specialized as this is one is a really BAD IDEA in the world we live in !
