Re: Air Force 1 Questions
Thanks to its proximity to Grand Central Station, the Waldorf actually has its own secret (not so secret anymore) rail siding under it which can be accessed from an elevator in the building. It was built by FDR in the days before Air Force One, when the President would travel up from D.C. on a private train. Conceivably it could be used today.

Well, once he finished reading about his pet goat...I still don't understand why the USSS didn't get him out of the school and to the airplane immediately that day.
As much as I attribute incompetency, graft, laziness and everything else under the sun to Bush, 9/11 wasn't anything anyone expected. I believe any president who was in Bush's position in Florida would have the same dumbfounded look on their face while the USSS tried to figure out what to do. Nobody could have guessed that more than one plane, much less four was going to do what they did. The USSS did the right thing getting Bush to ND. The first priority for any nation, especially a free one like ours is to protect the people and the government.
