I was just watching the news, and apparantly he landed in the middle of Central Park. Bet none of us saw that one coming. Did he take AF1 to one of the airports, then the choppers from there?
FYI I heard "Air Force One" cleared for takeoff off of 13R from JFK about a half hour ago (7:30 PM). Wish I could have been at Inwood!!!
I saw it takeoff at that time and it was REALLY cool. I'd never seen Air Force One before.
There is also a C-5 sitting in the middle of nowhere on a taxiway alongside 22/4.
In support of Bush's NYC visit LGA received a C32 (757) and C20 (G2) this afternoon. Last night Laura Bush departed around 1930 in a C40 (BBJ).
Phil. glad you got to see AF1 depart, always a thrill.

Urrr why am I in CLT!?!?
Do they still use the callsign "Air Force Two Foxtrot" for the First Lady's plane?Quote:

I think it's "family," because when the VP's wife (who isn't the first lady) is flying the callsign is "Executive Two Foxtrot."
In other news, I hear that Marine One used a baseball field in Central Park as a landing pad when ferrying the President to Harlem yesterday. If only they made such info public ahead of time...that would have been quite a shot.
I did not realize the Vice Presidents wife needed to be flown around the country or world in a Gulfstream or larger without the Vice President and at US Taxpayers expense? And even have her very own ATC callsign !
