Re: Jones Beach Airshow 2010
Hi Guys,
I hope all is well and I always seem to come here around this time of the year and I am sure you know why,
Well this year when I logged in I found myself linking to the "AI2010 NYC Ramp Tours for August - BUY TIX NOW" post!
http://nycaviation.com/forum/ai2010-nyc ... 18728.html
Next thing I know I am purchasing a Registration Form & Tour package & now getting totally psyched fot that!! Would like
to maybe see who here is going in or around July... would like to meet up.
Anyway, I took a lot of shots myself last year at FRG on Thursday. Caught a lot of stuff and was really nice later in the day to enjoy a frostie in Applebees only to be greeted by the arrival of the snowbirds as we walked out! After that the A10's landed and I was right in there...
Glad to see this thread running and look forward to it.
Dave

Re: Jones Beach Airshow 2010
Yup. I'm excited to see them this year. :borat:
Re: Jones Beach Airshow 2010
Hmm I need to stop slacking off and get over to FRG finally. You guys have access to the AOA over there or do you just go in through the museum?
Re: Jones Beach Airshow 2010
Most people shoot over or through the fence. You can read the spooting guide over here http://nycaviation.com/spotting-guides/frg/

"It will be great to bring the Warthog back to its home at FRG. The crowd of aviation enthusiasts here are amazing! We had just stepped out of the jet last year and there were tons of people crowding the fence wanting to talk. We'll be doing more of the same this year and hopefully I'll actually make it to the beach as well!"
That is a quote from Major Johnnie Green A-10 East Demonstration Pilot and OIC

Re: Jones Beach Airshow 2010
Just got this NOTAM emailed to me today:
To: Republic Airport Tenants & Users/Operators
From: John P. Arancio
Assistant Airport Manager
Date: April 27, 2010
RE: Runway 14/32 Closure-Friday, April 30th
The purpose of this memorandum is to notify all tenants of the temporary closure of Runway 14/32 on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This closure is necessary in order to conduct a survey for the installation of temporary arresting gear on Runway 14/32. The installation of this equipment is required to accommodate military aircraft based at Republic Airport during the 2010 Memorial Day Air Show. Please note that Runway 1/19 will be open and fully available during this time.
Getting closer!! :D

Re: Jones Beach Airshow 2010
Yup, the airshow is sneaking up on us. We have 30 more days until the Sat show! And about 27 days until the first performers arrive!
Re: Jones Beach Airshow 2010
The Bethpage Federal Credit Union is holding a drawing to win VIP passes to the 2010 airshow. http://www.facebook.com/notes/bethpage- ... 1009288135
They also said they are sponsoring Ed Hamill, but the below pic looks like a [pretty bad] photoshop to me.

EDIT- There was a press release the other day regarding the show and it mentioned an HF flight, I think its too but you never know! You can view it here
Re: Jones Beach Airshow 2010

Actually the seating and everything looks quite nice. The tickets are the killer. They go for $200 a pop. http://jonesbeachairshow.com/vip_tickets.html
@NLovis: You can meet most of the pilots at FRG. Last year I got to chat with the T-birds after practice.
