Quick question.....assuming Friday's has good wx and they do the practice,
I ahvent been to Jones Beach in ages. What field do we go to?
I usually park in Field 4, then take the walkway under Ocean Parkway and set up on the boardwalk near the water tower. You can park in Field 6, on the ocean side, but it is near the end of the show line, and you have a bit of a walk to show center.
Expect a C-130 bringing gear into FRG sometime on Thursday, 20 May. Haven't heard any times yet, but they will be parking at or near the main terminal while they unload. Arresting gear goes in early next week.
Dang, I'm going to be in school when it arrives...if anyone can get an idea when they might arrive or how long they will be staying, please post...I would love to get some pictures if possible.Quote:

That's some great audio right there!
Great job Speed.
THanks for the tip Moose!
I have audio downloads from previous shows on my website.
Here are 2 files from 2007: http://www.w2lie.net/download.php?list.12
Here are a few from 2006: http://www.w2lie.net/download.php?list.11
I should probably spend the week uploading the audio I have from 2008 and 2009.
I have posted my frequency list for 2010 Jones Beach Air Show. Please visit http://www.w2lie.net/airshow for the full list.
If you see a frequency or performer who isn't listed, please forward me the info.
For the 5th year running, you will be able to listen on line to the Air Show at Jones Beach at w2lie.net. The audio will be running on my "Specialty" feed.
The live feed is will be launched on May 24th - so that you may *hopefully* hear the Blue Angels come into Republic Airport (Farmingdale, NY).
I will also be archiving the audio from the air show, and hope to put it on line when I get a chance.
I also hope to capture the USMC Demo at Eisenhower Park on the live feed this year.
To keep up to date on any changes to the frequency list or live feed, please visit the forum thread at w2lie.net.
73 - and Happy Listening!

I posted a full schedule in the fleet week thread but
According to the US Navy at this web site
https://www.cnic.navy.mil/navycni/group ... 160688.pdf
There is a 3pm-5pm USMC MAGTF Demo scheduled for Republic Airport on Saturday May 29th.
Nice! Don't forget the Demo at Eisenhower Park at 10am as well! (I have frequencies for those on my site)

That's 10am-3pm.
I think I mentioned this about 20 pages ago, if the Bue Angels follow their regular show routine, they will practice Thursday afternoon, probably 2:00-3:00PM.
I realize they have two other events in the region to fly over, but they generally try to get two practice days in at a show location.
The C-130 left at 11:50 A.M. , I do not know what time it arrived. Unfortunately, I did not get to take a picture of it. I was in my backyard when it flew over.

Sean ALWAYS flies to the show site commercially - he never flies his own plane in. He's among a handful of performers who has a ferry pilot since, well, they do have full-time jobs...
I hope this one is right. I see great weather all the way to Sunday. 8)Quote:
