YBBN-Brisbane, Australia- Special Schemes, Big Surprises, and a Classic Quad-Jet
Hello Guys,
It's been over 3 weeks since I last checked in, during which time I have returned back home to the states from Australia. With the exhaustion of the trip plus the jetlag I have been rather slow to edit my final photos from down under, the first set of which you see here. Having spent most of my time in Sydney, I decided to make a trip up Australia's east coast to Brisbane for some sightseeing, and of course just a little spotting.
Unable to check in to my hotel for several hours after arrival, I decided to kill some time at the airport.

As a perfect preface to the enjoyable trip that was to come a local spotter noticed I was from out of town and helped me to snag this beauty not long after I got into BNE.

Which was promptly followed on YBBN's sole runway by this jet from ANZ

After a few days of sightseeing in the city I made my way back out to the airport with some local friends
This long-retired RAAF bird is looking a bit rough

At an airport where red-tailed turboprops equals Qantas Dash-8s we nearly blew past this bird parked at a somewhat remote ramp, thankfully we realized it wasn't a pedestrian Bombardier and turned around to snag a few shots

An equally pleasant static treat was this RAAF KC-30A tanker waiting on some repairs

The weather very quickly went south, but I still shot a few jets I was unlikely to see again

I spent my last day in town perched atop a ladder spotting before my flight back to Sydney, and it turned into quite the amazing afternoon...

I don't usually get excited about A320s, but with this being their sole example, I was quite excited to snag a few good photos

Qantas' soon to be retired 763s also make appearances at YBBN

Silver and Green, a combo I rather like on an aircraft, and one I don't feel is overly common

The main target for my spotting in Brisbane, Air Niugini's sharp looking 767s!

And lastly, the jet that I refused to even allow to get my hopes up when planning my trip to Brisbane. While I had heard a lot about the curiously-Peruvian registered DC-8 which did flights between Nauru and Brisbane, I didn't want to get it in my head that I would catch her, and then come up disappointed. But low-and-behold, lady luck was on my side, and delivered my catch of the year, my first DC-8-73

Hope you enjoyed! In the next few days I should have photos up from my last day in Sydney, and from my strategically planned layover on the way home...
