I have to agree. For all the good friends and people I know that work for American, I am sorry to say that their service comes off as....crap. And it's not even an in-flight thing. It's the obviously unhappy employees that SHOW it when they serve you, not smiling, not showing a lot of care, losing that spirit and being unable to motivate us to fly them again.
I hope this is truly part of a rebranding inside and out. Although US Airways is right around the corner.
Phil, i agree with what you just said there, but I never really liked how people have tended to single AA out for that, when there aren't many (domestic) carriers left out there that seem to offer that "smile" and warm feeling we come to expect. And with some it seemsto be a trade-off. Yes, the crew and gate attendents for Southwest like to have fun and are always in a good mood, but the product that Southwest offers is CRAP, and not really any cheaper than the legacy carriers any more. And as much as I like flying USAirways, they don't seem to go above and beyond much more than American does. So far the only domestic carrier that I have flown on that I truely 100% enjoy and can say offers a terrific product is jetBlue. Even when a flight I was on back in November had to divert to Rochester for 2+ hours because of fog at JFK, the flight crew and ground crew still managaed to keep smiling and keep the passengers happy, even after telling us that we had to wait for a new crew to arrive.
So, while personally, I have never had a bad experience on AA, I guess what I'm trying to say is that they just seem to blend in with a majority of the rest of the domestic carriers from my experience. And it could be A LOT worse.....at least theior planes don't say Southwest on the sides
