KAVP - 8/2/2012: NASCAR Air Force

The NASCAR Air Force began arriving at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport in advance of this weekend's race at Pocono Raceway. I took a ride up on Thursday evening, and caught a few aircraft on the ramp.

While I was there, a Miami Air 737 was over at the cargo ramp dropping off people, but I wasn't able to shoot their departure.

If you catch the Roush_Fenway 727s, my jealousy will reach new levels! I have hunted them for years now. Great catches!

They flew the 727 into Lehigh Valley (KABE) down in Allentown yesterday.

This is as good as I got when I was down at CLT a couple of months ago, but I have the feeling I'll have more opportunities in the future... :smile:

I heard 3 people were struck by lightning after the race today.

Latest report is 10 people were injured, one of whom died. I was gone from the track by then, hitting the road for NC, but it was nasty when the storm blew through.
