Red Bull Air Race 6/20/10

Since there were threads for each day individually, I figured I'd start one for today. Thankfully the light was good and there was just enough wind over the track to push the smoke away! As always it was nice to see Mark and Justin out (part of the EWR convict crew) and Shane, from Boca Raton.

I decided to try Ellis Island Sunday and it was much better for photos but was much hotter then on the other side. There was no breeze at all it seemed.

nice shots Bill, did you just get normal access to the island or was it somewhat off limits for the race? The vantage point over there looked great!

Mark- that is ridiculous, thanks for making me laugh at 7:40am on a Monday...my day is already better.

Very hard to make do with 200mm especially with small aircraft, but still an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

Thanks Mike, it was normal access except where they are doing some renovations on the far northwest corner of the island. Just had to pay the normal $12 r/t ferry ticket
