Interestingly, on the NASA channel, they said that after Atlantis comes back and lands, they will fully prep it as if it will fly again. It will be no different than the post-flight prepping that took place on any previous flight. They just want to be ready with a fully prepped orbiter in case of trouble on the last two flights (Endeavor and Discovery).
Overall, with the impending Shuttle retirements, it feels just like it did when they retired Concorde. :(
