So when exactly is AF-1 due in today? I happen to be off.
TFR starts at 3:45pm, so probably not long after that. He'll be flying in from Buffalo.Quote:

Thanks to all for all the help. AF-1 came in on 31R at 4:45PM. I was just about to give up figuring they had used a different runway when they showed up. A few photos.

NICE JOB!!!
Great shots, Fred! You really had a beautiful sky for it today.
Thanks emk, Thanks Moose. I know the skies were great, thank goodness it was today and not yesterday.
Hopefully we will have skies like that in two weeks for Jones Beach!

Yea I had no chance of getting it. I got to JFK at 4:53 and I see AF1 at H3. Really nice shots though.
Great shots. It is interesting to note that they stopped all arrivals and departures at JFK during this arrival for about 8 minutes from the 22's. By 4:47, all operations resumed.I wonder when he departed from Rwy 31R Thursday evening. I am curious what focal length you use. I used to use a 205mm telephoto zoom lens with my Canon SLR when I went on the hill by Rockaway Blvd @ 22L. The hill has since been leveled. I used manual settings of 1/1000 and f3.8. I never upgraded after film-type cameras became obsolete so I now use a small 10X point and shoot camera which can't compare. Incidentally, what is the actual printed call-sign for Air Force One? AF 1 was the call-sign for the Air France Concorde for over 2 decades.
I was in the Cosco parking lot with an 80-400mm. Since the skies looked so great, plus that lense is 5.6 at the long side I used shutter priority at 1/1000th. Most of the apetures were around f6.3 to f8.
Biggest problem with Cosco was the wires and the parking lot lights.
