Wind Problems Yesterday at JFK
The gusty wind yesterday made problems at JFK. Visibility on the ground by Rwy 31L construction was diminished. I was viewing with guys from Terminal One and we remarked that it ressembled a sandstorm by Jamaica Bay. Objects were blowing all over and departures from Rwy 22R were halted. Eventually, all operations were shifted to Rwy 31R by 1700. I think this was the cause for AFR 6 (A388) to be diverted to Boston. Can the A388 land on Rwy 31R?

Still pretty windy this morning. Lots of tree limbs and branches down in my hood and a little brisk. My daughter has a
soccer game in an hour and it looks like I'm breaking out the heavy jacket. :(

1010 wins is reporting delays at JFK up top 5 hours for Sunday afternoon due to winds and runway construction. I presume JFK will be up and down 31R today and LGA up and down 31. Perhaps EWR will see some circle to land 29 action as well.
