Police: Chunk of metal from plane landed on Roosevelt lawn
November 6, 2009
A slab of metal fell from the sky and landed on a front lawn in Roosevelt early Thursday evening - and investigators think it's a piece of a plane.
Police officers went to check it out after a 6:30 p.m. emergency call. The caller told the police about a "suspicious object on the front lawn of 215 Lincoln Ave. Upon arrival, officers found a three-foot by four-foot, cone-shaped piece of metal that had fallen out of the sky onto the lawn." First Squad detectives investigated and found that it was part of a commercial aircraft. No injuries were reported.

I was told the part was an exhaust nozzle from the engine of a Delta 777 flying DAL799 KJFK-RJAA. The crew supposedly had no clue prior to arriving in Narita.
