A new airline that will transport pets exclusively is set to launch in July. For $149 each way, Pet Airways says they will fly your dog or cat "in the main cabin, NOT in cargo!" Not a bad deal compared to the pet transport fees charged by many conventional airlines. Looks like they will operate a 1x weekly cross-country flight from New York (TEB) making stops at Washington/Baltimore (BWI), Chicago (PWK, Chicago Executive), Denver (BJC, Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport) and Los Angeles (HHR, Hawthorne Municipal Airport).
They'll be using a Beech 1900C in a freight configuration operated by Suburban Air Freight out of Omaha, Nebraska. So yes, your pet will be in the "main cabin," but it's the main cabin of a cargo aircraft.
Re: Pet Airways: The World's First Pet-Only Airline
what's the point of this, they still have to be in a kennel. you think that an FBO's linemen will handle them any better than an airlines' ramp rats? HA!

Their website initially claimed that they had a fleet of twenty aircraft: Convair 580s/5800s, 727s, and Falcon 20s. They've since scaled back some of their earlier claims.
Somehow came across a photo of a Pet Airways plane today and was kind of shocked/surprised to see they are still in operation and seem to do be doing pretty well. Have now expanded operations to 9 airports, have publicly traded stock (PAWS) and while they haven't seen a quarterly profit yet they are predicting one in the next couple years.

Yeah, they were grounded for a few months and I thought they were done, but they're back and seem to be doing well. I believe they've partnered with a different aircraft operator now.
