We get Pimp my Ride in the UK, i love the US and UK shows its great to see old bangers (battered old cars) done up and brought back to life.
The cars on the US version would not be allowed on UK roads (as they are in a very bad state before they are pimped up) are US laws less strict than UK laws ?
Just because it's driving on the streets, does not mean that it's legal to do so.
Also, keep in mind that different states have different laws - in New York, cars are required to have an annual safety inspection, which should, in theory, keep the worst cars off the road. That isn't true in all states, so you can get some scary stuff on the roads in other places.
