Breaking news at the moment....

Looks worse than I originally imagined...
Yep; that one's finished. Second 735 that CO has lost in a runway incident in bad weather (one on arrival somewhere in Mexico back in the late 90s). Thankfully, no one was killed in either.
I shot N18611 at DCA in 2004.

I see a running trend of people evacuating crashed aircraft with zero fatalities. I like it. Glad everyone's ok.
I have a photo of this aircraft. In fact, I just sold the photo to a magazine this month.

For a fire....I need no burns. Also, where is everyone? I'm surprised the plane is all alone.
Ouch... Glad no one was killed! At least no one had to slide all the way down the slides to get out!
Look at this shot of 1404 I found today

I find it amazing that it came to a stop just a couple of hundred yards away from one of the airport fire stations. (In fact I think I saw somewhere that it almost hit the station!) I suppose the evacuation was helped by a quick response from the ARFF guys.
They probably opened the doors of the ARFF and yelled "go, go go, oh, sh**, backup, backup, backup!!!
So, what happened?!
Frightening ATC audio...controller sees firefighters going the wrong direction even though the plane ended up right next to the firehouse.
that's pretty embarassing. i wonder why the OPS/ARFF vehicles were on the TWR and not GND frequency.Quote:

I've heard nothing on the cause of this. Anyone know?
From the video Gotham posted those are the first cabin shots I had seen, more intact and less fire damage than I would have expected.
My compliments to the controller for his proffesionalism.
