Ouch...Lets hope everyone survives!
3 reported dead, two on board, one on the ground
Tommy, while there are shots of this aircraft in Taca colors there are no photo's of it on JP or a.net in Taca colors since it's very recent repaint, it has been photographed as recently as two months ago in the Martainair scheme, so you may having something rare, maybe you know someone at JP ( haha) that could get that photo priority screening.Quote:

The accident occurred at Tegucigalpa, home of the infamous "downhill" approach:

Ron, I shot that one too earlier this week.
When you say repaint, what was redone besides removing the flag?
I'll be honest, I feel a bit sad thinking about it. I mean, we just saw it the other day. I understand the pilot passed on as well as a few others.
Mario, you should upload yours as well. rare shot. Look at Senga's photo, this is the way it was painted up until at least 2 months ago in full Martinair colors. After the lease deal with Martinair ended TAF was just repainted into full Taca colors, and in some of the close up photo's from today the paint looks fresh.Quote:

RIP to those lost today.

THanks for the prompting. But apparently since it was originally in Taca Colors, its not a priority?
I hate to say this but with an approach like that it was almost destined to happen at some point.
Unfortunately the result was rather negative and RIP to those perished.
That type of thought reminds me of a movie.
The Accused.
Just because she dressed provocatively, it was destined she would have been raped.

Not the right message.
Perhaps we should await the investigation prior to such thoughts?
According to ATW , The days of this airport and large aircraft (i.e. larger than ATR42's) appear to be numbered
Story..
Tuesday June 3, 2008
TACA A320-200 runway overrun accident at Tegucigalpa's Toncontin International Friday killed five (the aircraft's captain, two passengers and two people on the ground), the airline confirmed, one more than was apparent Friday (ATWOnline, June 2). Forty-five people, including three members of the cabin crew, remained hospitalized Saturday. The airport was closed following the accident and reopened yesterday with aircraft carrying 42 or fewer permitted, according to the Associated Press. Larger aircraft are being diverted to San Pedro Sula. TACA said it supported a government decision to begin using Soto Cano Air Base about 80 km. from Tegucigalpa for commercial flights. The facility reportedly will be qualified in approximately two months.
