Question regarding 767s at LGA??
Im still kind of curious now, Is there any chance what so ever that LGA would have a schedule 767 flight from DL or AA again? I now there are plenty of domestic 767-300s from Delta flying to Atlanta, and Florida, along with AA flying domestic 767-300 flights to Miami and so on.. And yes I know that sometimes AA or DL still sub 767s at LGA for 757s, once in a blu moon, United sometimes does too. Any chance DL or AA would operate schedule LGA service again? Any answers would be great for me.
Thanks
Re: Question regarding 767s at LGA??
AA only fly's 300s once or twice a day to MIA from JFK and then the flight continues onto to somewhere in South America, otherwise MIA is all A300s. I don't think you'll see to many 300ERs from AA at LGA anytime soon. If anything perhaps more 757s. As for Delta they have been phasing out the non ER 767s and most of the 763s are now on Intl duty so again not likely.
It would go along way to cut down on LGA's congestion if larger planes were used to fly to the Hubs. Take AA for example they have three DFW flights leaving in the afternoon all around 45 mins of each other using an MD-80, 737, and a 757....why not drop one and use a two class 763? Same can be said with AC and UAL...AC needs could easily fill a A321 to YYZ in the morning but they rely on the E170 and 190.

Thats great info Tom, Thanks for the tip about that..
Re: Question regarding 767s at LGA??
One event that could cause any of the above mentioned carriers to resume 767 service at LGA would be if the current slot situation where to change significantly. Let's say DL had to relinguish a significant number of their slots, unlikely but not impossible. They might decide to change LGA-ATL from every hour to every other hour, and perhaps use a 763 or 764 during peak times. Same with AA to ORD and DFW, perhaps even MIA.
Just a thought

Re: Question regarding 767s at LGA??
AA actually subs them a decent amount of them in, at least it seems. Just yesterday there was one that came in from DFW as AAL 744 and then ferried to JFK. Almost always though the 767s that AA sends in are from MIA when a 757 goes OTS. The 767 would normally sit on the ground all day at MIA between South America flights so its actually a simple process. Not to mention that the same pilots can fly it.
As far as gates go the AA 767s at LGA will only park at D3 or D5...random fact of the day!

Interesting...I would have thought they would park them at gate D10 (or at the end of concourse D).
Re: Question regarding 767s at LGA??
D-10 used to hold DC-10's on a daily basis, slightly larger than a 763, has anything changed since those days Matt?
Now for my own random fact of the day, thanks to a very appreciated phone call from Matt Smith and I's great friend in the AA Tower, I have some nice slides somwhere of an AA 763 on D3 and a NC TWA 763 on D5, side by side, both equipment subs from MIA and STL respectively during TWA's final days when they actually operated (very briefly) out of the AA Concourse.
Cheers
