Jet Blue Suspends BOS and JFK to LAX
Jet Blue will suspend the launch of new flights between BOS and JFK to LAX that were due to start on May 21st. The current economic issues have been stated as the cause.

JetBlue has announced the suspension of the LAX startup that was planned for May 21, 2008. JetBlue cites that with jetfuel going on an uptrend it wouldn't make sense to open up a new city, and that it would make sense economic wise in the current status of the airline industry, mostly again, with the fuel costs. Customers that had booking on these routes from JFK and BOS will be routed to LGB.

Re: Jet Blue Suspends BOS and JFK to LAX
The only reason this route was planned was to compete with VX. The idea of running O&D flights on an A320 across the country just doesn't make any kind of economic sense. America West tried it....failed....Southwest tired it....failed. The utilization of the aircraft just doesn't add up at the end of the day. jetBlue also would have been competing against themselves at LGB, I'm sure the aircraft will have better use elsewhere.
Re: Jet Blue Suspends BOS and JFK to LAX
Was stupid to thing about the JFK-LAX market, as Tommy said, they would have been competing against themselves. It is a 30-45 minute drive from Long Beach Airport to Los Angeles airport.
It they want to do a promotion of some sorts, would have been cheaper to give a taxi credit of some sorts.
