Lawmakers being forced to give up gas-guzzling cars
Congress has been bearing down to do more about global warming. But a little-noticed amendment to last year's energy bill has hit especially close to home. It requires House members who lease vehicles through their office budgets to drive cars that emit low levels of greenhouse gases.

Who cares about the greenhouse emissions? I've never given a rat's ass about global warming. It's about saving money and giving less of OUR money to the crooks in the Mid East!

I think this just proves that no one reads all the stuff they shove into those bills.
It's bull**** though. Instead of making a law to get a few hundred people to use little cars, they should be legislating the automakers to build their big cars with efficient drivetrains. If any of the large domestic or foreign makers really wanted to they could start producing a full size sedan that gets 50+ MPG in a year or two.
