Doesn't mean that every carrier with MD80 aircraft is going to be in trouble
Re: MORE: Alaska Grounds MD-80s for Inspections
No body has really been estimating the cost out of each airlines pocket. Wonder what that may really be ?
Re: MORE: Alaska Grounds MD-80s for Inspections
With the cost of fuel being what it is, I suspect this is actually saving them money.
Re: MORE: Alaska Grounds MD-80s for Inspections
Well, that may not be so true. Yes, the airlines are not flying the aircraft but don't they still have to pay for the ramp rats that are sitting around with nothing to do but wait.

Alaska Airlines returns seven MD-80s to service
NEW YORK, April 10 (Reuters) - Alaska Airlines said on Thursday that eight of its nine MD-80 aircraft are in compliance with a Federal Aviation Administration airworthiness directive related to wire bundling in the aircraft's wheel wells.
Alaska Airlines said seven aircraft have returned to service with work continuing on the eighth. Its remaining MD-80 is undergoing maintenance unrelated to the wire bundling issue.
