Biman to Lease 777, Return to JFK
A delegation of Boeing reps is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh next week to hash out a deal with Biman Bangladesh Airlines to lease a 777 aircraft. The aircraft would be used exclusively for Dhaka-New York service, which must be resumed by Oct. 25th to avoid losing the airline's US permit to fly the route. A few weeks ago Biman finalized a deal to purchase four Boeing 777s and four 787s, which includes provisions to lease four 777s before the new aircraft are built. They are also leasing an ex-Northwest 747-200 from Kabo Air of Nigeria.

I can imagine some of the Varig 777-200s that are still parked in the desert could be of use. I think 3 of them, including our JFK bird, were slated for Royal Brunei but the deal fell through.
