VIDEO: Shuttle Launch from Inside Cockpit
I realized today I had never seen a shuttle launch from inside the cockpit. Surely they must have cameras in there, I thought. Well, turns out they do, and there are a few vids on youtube...I'm guessing they got them from NASA's site but I haven't looked around there yet.
This is the best one I've found...soundtrack is just the crew talking to each other, not the usual "10, 9, 8, 7, 6..." The launch is mission STS-65 aboard Shuttle Columbia, July 8, 1994.

Re: VIDEO: Shuttle Launch from Inside Cockpit
2 qustions; what is on the windshield? a reflection???
and 2 the person in the back right seat is holding something that looks like a mirror??
Re: VIDEO: Shuttle Launch from Inside Cockpit
I'm guessing that's a reflection in the windshield.
The people in the back seats are indeed holding mirrors to look at instruments behind them.
Re: VIDEO: Shuttle Launch from Inside Cockpit
are those instruments printed reversed so they look correct in the mirrors?
Re: VIDEO: Shuttle Launch from Inside Cockpit
I wondered that too, I'm not sure.
