DVD wars, is Blu-ray going to be the winner?
TOKYO, Jan 8 - Paramount studios is poised to drop its support of the high-definition DVD
(HD DVD) format after Warner Bros studio said it would back the competing Blu-ray format, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday.
The loss of support from Paramount, which is owned by Viacom Inc, would likely deal the final blow to the HD DVD format backed by Toshiba Corp and put an end to the format war, the newspaper said on its Web site.

Re: DVD wars, is Blu-ray going to be the winner?
Yeah, HD DVD is pretty much done. Glad I didn't jump on one of those $100 HD DVD players Wal Mart was selling. On the bright side the cost of Blu-Ray players is already dropping. Sony showed a computer "BD-ROM" drive at CES last week which will sell for only $200 and as adoption grows, the equipment will get cheaper just like everything else. I've seen Sony displays at a couple of Best Buy locations with a Blu-Ray movie playing through one of their higher-end 42in HDTVs and the image is sick, like looking through a window.

Very cool. We just started watching our Blu Ray "Hitchkiers Guide to the Galaxy" last night. Loving the Hd def.!
As an aside, while his mum was out yesterday, Sebastian and I watched "La Boheme" on Voom HD.
I swear, the sound and quality of the image is so good, I may never have to see shows in the theater again. The images are so real as if they are in the living room.
