VORs Not Shown on Airport Diagram
I was trying to find where the JFK and LGA VORs are on the FAA Airport Diagram. They appear to not be shown on these charts anymore. I think I saw the LGA VOR up on a hill by the north end of LGA by Bowery Bay when I visited on Sat. Why aren't the VOR's shown on these diagrams and where are they located?
Re: VORs Not Shown on Airport Diagram
Isn't LGA's in the water just east of the runway intersection?
Re: VORs Not Shown on Airport Diagram
The VOR is not on the operational surface, and it's relatively small (the glideslope shack isn't noted either). The only argument that I can put forth for its inclusion is that it's a very unique and recognizable building, and can possibly help with orientation in some circumstances. The JFK VOR is between the 4s, just north of J. The Canarsie VOR is located on that little spit of swampy land located just north of Floyd Bennett.

The location, frequency, morse code identification, and unusable portions of navaids can be found in the Airport Facility Directory (A/FD) either with the associated airport or the individual navaid (if not associated with an airport). http://www.naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/online/d_afd
The LGA VOR is located east of the approach end of runway 22 and Romeo taxiway. However, it's been temporarily relocated numerous times over the past few months. Here's the latest NOTAM:
Quote:
LGA 06/113 LGA VOR RELOCATED 404716.59N/0735237.71W
(which is N40°47.16.59 W73°52.37.71)
Typically, geographical coordinates of navaids are not charted on US terminal procedures except for VOR/DME RNAV approaches where coordinates are given for all navaids and most waypoints. Even those are pretty rare now the the FAA is decommissioning outdated approaches left and right.
Re: VORs Not Shown on Airport Diagram
I am confused. I always that the VOR was the light-colored circular building with an array of what appears to be red "lollipops' surrounding it. It appears that LGA's VOR is located in the water to the left of Rwy 22. Evidently getting wet isn't a factor of where to place the VOR. I always thought that the LGA VOR was due west of the "Welcome to NY" sign on the grass.

Yes, that was what I was referring to. Are there 36 what I called "lollipops" surrounding the VOR building? I thought they were red but appear to be golden in color. I still can't see how a VOR could be placed in the water. Are the structures waterproof? The LGA VOR appears to be in the Bay.

It's located on top of a concrete pad in the water which is connected to the airport surface area via a concrete bridge. Looks very similar to a concrete pier. You can see the structure in this A.net picture:
