Re: LGA Planeview Park 7/29
Nice stuff, Matt. I'm glad you got to get out there and enjoy Planeview a bit. I'm eager to free up my weekends so we can hit the spots together.

Nice photos Matt, Where in the park did you position yourself?
Re: LGA Planeview Park 7/29
Good to see some shots from you, Matt. :)
You should have been at JFK to catch my ERJ-145 arrival in the pouring rain, never mind the fact that there was zero visibility! ;)

Some shots are from the west side of the park (on the end closer to the landing lights), and some were shot standing on the bench at the other end (and the undercarriage shot of the RJ is from Landing Lights Park down the block). The west end is closer to the planes, but there is only a brief space between two trees and a light pole that you have to capture a decent shot. Standing on the eastern bench is a better choice, best is to use a step stool right next to the fence, but that requires a car unless you don't mind lugging a ladder around on the bus :)
They were all a bit back/top lit because I got there around 11am. Ideal light is earlier in the day.

After the sun crosses over in the afternoon, you can find places on the other side of the approach path (on Ditmars Blvd) where it's possible to get good lighting. I started a thread with some halfway-decent pics I took from that position.
The problem in general with Planeview Park is that it's too close to the airport. There are a lot of trees and lampposts and other obstructions, so from the best spots you have about two seconds to shoot.
