Comp Monitors (help!)
I'm looking into getting a new monitor for my computer, which I'd be receiving as a Christmas gift.
I'm interested in a flat screen that's at least 17 inches, and I don't want the price to go over $220 or so, but I'd prefer something a few bucks cheaper.
I've seent he "cheap" Acers at offices, and the quality of those are better than the Samsung SyncMaster 753DF CRT monitor that I currently use.
As you know, I'll be doing some photo editing with this monitor, so thoguh I know these aren't the BEST monitors for that, anything wuld be an upgrade frommy current situation.
Please give me your thoughts about the following:
Acer 20" AL2017BMD ($229):

HP 17" VS17E ($199):

Aside form general input, let me knwo which of the 17"s you think would be the best out of those listed, unless you folks have other ideas.

I have a friend who's relative works for a computer supply company, he has a real nice 19" monitor, probably one of the better ones I have seen for under $500. It is about $150, if you want I can see about getting you one and shipping it out to ya. I'm going to get one myself

I got my wife a new 19" flat panel today - make is a Hanns G - from Office Depot - is was $239 with a $90 mail in rebate - it's a pretty decent monitor - I looked at some of the shots that Matt took today on there compared to my Dell laptop - the monitor is very nice! I think they have a 17" as well.

A member at the last club who owns a computer business gave me an Acer AL1715 and it's pretty good. I do some editing on it when I am not using my notebook and it's great. Good graphics etc.
