Varig ceasing flight to U.S. *UPDATE*

My last post brought good news of Delta starting flights to BOM and ACC and JFK getting the 777-200 again but my latest post brings bad news...

As of today, Tuesday June 20th, Varig has ceased flights to MIA, LAX, and JFK with no plans to return.

I for one have to express my major dissapointment in this action taken by Varig. The Vairg livery on the 777-200 is my favorite and I will dearly miss seeing it at JFK.

It looks like Mario did photograph the last scheduled Varig departure from JFK.

Let's hope that when PP-VRE leaves JFK she will depart in Varig colors.

Unless they get bought by someone they are gone. Its ashame but its business and that's how things work. TAM came along with a much better product and hurt VARIG tremendously. Hopefully they can pull a hat trick out last mun but its doubtful.

Seems like somewhat good timing since Delta started flying to Sao Paulo last week. Dont know if Varig went to RIo or Sao but yeah lost a 777 another well dominated 763 DL at JFK

sad to see an airline with such history about to go under

So it seems, according to http://www.airliners.net/discussions/ge ... n/2842418/, Varig is returing to JFK and MIA as of June 24th on alternate days.

Since Varig hass stopped flying into JFK .....does anyone know what 767-300 is still flying the route every other day?

Senga I beleive its the Euro Atlantic Charter 767.

And apparently, according to someones' coment to my pic, its doesnt get affected by Varigs troubles.

humm, i never saw them. when do the flights end because i might go with my dad to work tomorrow and we might stop by at JFK.

G-BOAD, I don't know when they end but the schedual si eover other day right now. Pretty sporadic.
Id say check flytecomm on the days you visit JFK.

I saw that VARIG come in again on Sunday night.

we were discussing it last night, apparently its a VARIG painted plane but not owned by them. go figure.
