For the 80th anniversary of Iberia they have painted an A319 in their original scheme:

interesting place for a registration, never seen it that high up the tail.

I imagine it has to do with the original livery having the registration on the tail.

Iberia generally has the last three letters of the registration on the tail and on some aircraft the full registration.
